About the Role
BrightView is looking for a Grounds Person I (G‑1). Pay range
$20–$25
per hour based on experience.
Responsibilities The primary function of this position is to work as a member of a tree crew which includes grounds workers, climbers, and crew leaders. A Grounds Person works as part of an effective tree care team and assists and supports the crew leader and climber in a variety of ways:
Performs tree care activities that maintain safe and healthy trees for clients.
Responsible for daily equipment inspection and maintenance.
Sets up safety items including positioning cones and signs, and roping or taping off crew work areas.
Hands tools to the climber and receives tools from the climber, hoisting them into the tree using a rope.
Gathers branches into piles, transports them to the chipper, feeds them into the chipper, and unloads tree trunks and chips at the appropriate facility.
Ensures all operations, job sites, and employees are safe, and that the public is protected from falling debris.
Supports other team members in tree care activities and works as part of a team.
Communicates effectively with crew members and the public.
Skills & Qualifications
Prior tree‑grounds experience (highly desired).
Ability to follow directions and established procedures related to roping, rigging, equipment maintenance, and reporting malfunctioning equipment.
Basic mathematical skills (adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing) for weight, volume, and distance calculations.
Critical thinking skills to understand and carry out instructions and perform standardized tasks with occasional variables.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and hand sign, for climber coordination and public interaction.
