Job Summary
The Assistant Day Camp Director is responsible to make sure that all aspects of the day to day operation of the camp run smoothly, primarily through the supervision of campers and IUP work study students, as well as the supervision of all activities.

Responsibilities
Participate in planning the Summer Day Camp under the Director’s leadership and Corps Officers as needed.
Assist in the supervision of IUP Work Study students and volunteers.
Clear communication with camp director and all staff to make sure that Day Camp runs smoothly.
Proper supervision of campers while maintaining a safe and structured environment at all times.
Teach and implement lessons and activities (i.e. arts, recreation, devotions, etc.),
Participate with campers during activities.
Assist Director with recruitment efforts as needed
Take attendance and assist in maintaining program statistics
Assist in meal preparation and distribution
Assist with transportation and completion of mileage report as requested.
Help plan and attend scheduled field trips with campers.
Represent the Salvation Army positively in the community.
Maintain good stewardship practices in care of equipment, facilities and grounds
Will be the person is charge in the event of the Day Camp Director’s absence.
Qualifications
Skills and abilities in working with children grades K-12.
Ability to lead groups and activities.
Experience working with children or educational settings.
Good organization and communication skills.
Ability to work well with others in a leadership position.
All three PA Clearances required upon employment and thereafter upon renewal date: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, Request for Criminal Record, and Fingerprint based federal criminal history.
PA Mandated and Permissive Reporting and The Salvation Army's KeepSAfe training required.
Valid PA Driver’s License
High School Diploma
Previous employment or volunteer experience working with youth and leading activities
