Electrical Designer Job Description We are seeking a motivated Junior CAD Electrical Designer to join our engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and updating electrical schematics, layouts, and drawings using AutoCAD Electrical/AutoCAD software. You will collaborate closely with designers and engineers on a variety of electrical design projects, with a particular focus on building and designing control panels.

Responsibilities

Prepare and revise electrical drawings, including single-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and cable schedules using AutoCAD and/or other CAD software.

Assist in the development of electrical design packages for projects from concept through construction phases.

Incorporate redlines and markup feedback from engineers and project managers into drawings.

Ensure drawings comply with company standards, industry codes (e.g., NEC, IEC), and client specifications.

Collaborate with electrical engineers to gather design requirements and resolve technical issues.

Maintain organized project files, drawing libraries, and documentation.

Perform basic calculations and checks for accuracy of designs, such as load schedules and voltage drop.

Support coordination with other disciplines, including mechanical, structural, and architectural, for multidisciplinary projects.

Participate in design reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of CAD standards and templates.

Essential Skills

3+ years of experience as an Electrical Designer.

3+ years of professional experience using AutoCAD Electrical.

Knowledge of UL508A and/or UL698A & Control Panels.

Understanding of electrical systems, components, and terminology, including power distribution, lighting, controls, and reading engineering drawings.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience with electrical schematics and hardware.

Familiarity with industry codes such as NEC and IEC.

Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX.

Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
