About the Deglman Center for Ignatian Spirituality The Deglman Center for Ignatian Spirituality at Creighton University was established in February 1990. From its inception, the Center's mission has been and remains the promotion of spirituality rooted in the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola and reflective of the Jesuit charism. By sharing the gifts of the Spiritual Exercises and Ignatian spirituality through group and individual spiritual direction, retreats, workshops and other offerings, the Deglman Center for Ignatian Spirituality forms and accompanies Creighton University students, faculty, staff and individuals beyond the University in promoting personal and corporate growth.

About the Assistant Director Position The Assistant Director for Online Ministries and Ignatian Retreats is primarily responsible for executing a vision for Online Ministries and the sponsored programs of Creighton University's Retreat Center.

Online Ministries Duties Established in 1998, Creighton's Online Ministries endeavors to support and deepen individual and communal relationships with God/Jesus and animate the university's Jesuit, Catholic mission through access to the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola, Ignatian prayer resources, and Scripture reflections structured around the liturgical year. Related duties include:

Oversight and regular upkeep of the multi-faceted Online Ministries site housed on Drupal

Recruitment and support of faculty and staff who write daily scripture reflections, including provision of periodic formation opportunities

Creation of new - dynamic and relevant - prayer resources rooted in the Spiritual Exercises and Ignatian spirituality

Foster relationships that support the vitality and longevity of Online Ministries' global ministry

Promotion of Online Ministries

Recruitment, supervision and support of student employee(s) to assist with site upkeep

Retreat Center (CURC) Duties For over 30 years, Creighton University's Retreat Center (CURC) in Griswold, IA has supported and fostered individuals' and communities' active prayer lives and deepening relationships with Christ. The CURC hosts groups for hosted-retreats fully planned and facilitated by the group but hosted at CURC and provides CURC-sponsored retreats rooted in Ignatian spirituality. This position is responsible for planning, implementing, and growing the latter. Duties include:

Planning, advertisement, and implementation of 6 annual 3-day silent, directed Ignatian retreats, including identification of Ignatian-trained directors to accompany retreatants

Planning, advertisement, and implementation of at least 1 annual 3-day silent, preached Ignatian retreat, including identification of Ignatian-trained directors to accompany retreatants

Development of new opportunities - talks, days of reflection, and retreats - that grow opportunities for individuals within and outside of Creighton University to experience Ignatian spirituality at the CURC

Partnership with the Retreat Center Operations Manager to implement the vision and mission of the CURC and promote engagement with the Center

Collaboration with the Director of the Deglman Center for Ignatian Spirituality, the Director of Mission Engagement, and the Vice President for Mission & Ministry on opportunities to enhance the Ignatian formation of Creighton University faculty and staff

As requested, creation of sponsored offerings that meet the particular needs of Creighton University faculty/staff departments and divisions and those of area Jesuit apostolates

Regular assessment of offerings and implementation of adjustments for continual improvement

Reporting This position reports to the Director of the Deglman Center for Ignatian Spirituality.

Qualifications

Master's degree in Divinity, Theology, Ministry or related discipline

Training and experience as a spiritual director formed in Ignatian Spirituality

Demonstrated experience directing the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola in myriad formats, particularly 19th Annotation in small groups and 1:1, as well as experience leading Ignatian preached retreats

Demonstrated record of working collaboratively to establish and animate a shared vision

At least 3 years of experience in active ministry

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

In-depth knowledge of the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola and Ignatian Spirituality

Excellent written and verbal communications, and exceptional listening skills

Ability and commitment to take initiative, think creatively, and work both independently and collaboratively

Skilled at fostering relationships and community grounded in invitation

Facility with technology, computers, MSOffice, etc. and comfort

Familiarity Creighton University's mission as a Jesuit, Catholic institution of higher education

Strong pastoral sensibilities

Ability to manage departmental budget, provide donor stewardship, and collaborate in fundraising

Availability for periodic night and weekend commitments and occasional travel

Licenses/Certifications

Certified/trained spiritual director
