
Survey Crew Chief

In this role, you'll be responsible for performing field surveys, leading a survey crew, and ensuring the work meets the high level of quality LHB prides itself on. Position Summary
Utility locates & 4-way sweeps
Perform field surveys and calculations for construction, boundary, and topographic surveys
Ensure team's performance in the field aligns with LHB QA/QC processes
Train crew members and evaluate crew performance in the field
Assist with ensuring that surveys comply with applicable laws, rules, and regulations
Prepare field notes, reports, and necessary project-related correspondence
Build and maintain solid client relationships with clear communication skills while interacting on job sites
Exercise sound independent judgment within general policy guidelines and perform other related work as assigned
When needed, work in all weather conditions, near high-volume traffic, stand or walk for long periods of time
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or GED
Two years of previous experience working as a survey tech and/or crew chief
Demonstrated knowledge of Total Station and GPS surveying equipment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Must be willing to travel 80% or more
Ability to perform moderate lifting (50 lbs.), standing, and walking for extended periods
Ability to communicate effectively and work as part of team
Strong work ethic, dependable, and motivated
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
A revoked, suspended, or canceled driver’s license within the last five (5) years or three (3) serious traffic violations within the last three (3) years may disqualify a candidate.
Upon receipt of an offer of employment, applicants must be able to successfully complete pre-employment onboarding requirements that will include a criminal/civil background check and drug screen, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations
Preferred Qualifications
Associates Degree and/or Bachelor's Degree in Land Surveying, Engineering Technology, or a related field
Previous experience with 4-way sweep process highly desired
Experience using Trimble equipment
Experience with ArcGIS and CAD software
Ability to evaluate, plan, direct, communicate, engage and oversee survey technician field work with varying degrees of complexity
OSHA 30-Hour Certification
Salary Range
This position’s anticipated base hourly rate is $28 - $35 per hour. (This position is eligible for year-end bonuses.) Offer will be determined based on the selected candidate’s experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity among our team.
