We are seeking a highly motivated and versatile

IT & Digital Communications Specialist

to join our team. This newly established role is designed to support and enhance HLA’s technology infrastructure while advancing our digital communications and marketing efforts. The position will play an important role in helping our engineers, planners, surveyors, project managers, construction team and administrative staff stay connected, productive, and equipped with practical tools and resources that support quality project delivery.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving day-to-day technology challenges, improving internal processes, and contributing to the professional presentation of a growing consulting firm. The successful candidate will be service-oriented, proactive, detail-focused, and comfortable supporting both technical operations and company communications.

Provide responsive day-to-day internal technical support, including user access, hardware setup, connectivity, printing, and general troubleshooting.

Serve as an internal point of contact for staff technology needs and coordinate with our managed IT service provider to diagnose and resolve issues efficiently.

Assist in the administration and maintenance of company technology systems, including computers, mobile devices, printers, phones, network infrastructure, and software platforms.

Coordinate procurement, setup, deployment, inventory, and lifecycle management of hardware and software assets, including license tracking and renewals.

Support Microsoft 365 environment administration, including user management, permissions, and general system support.

Help maintain consistency, reliability, and security across office technology systems and user practices.

Technology Improvement & Process Development

Assist in evaluating and implementing new tools, systems, or integrations that support operational and project delivery functions.

Identify opportunities to improve workflows, standardization, system efficiency, and support evolving business needs through technology solutions.

Develop, document, and maintain internal IT procedures, standards, and best practices.

Support adoption of new systems and processes through clear communication, training, and follow-through.

Digital Communications & Marketing Support

Assist with updating and maintaining the company website, ensuring content is current, accurate, and aligned with company branding.

Support marketing and communications initiatives through graphic design, digital content creation, and document formatting.

Assist with preparation of proposals, reports, and other client-facing materials to ensure consistency, professionalism, and quality.

Contribute to internal communications and branding efforts as needed.

Help reinforce a consistent and polished brand presence that reflects the quality of HLA’s people, projects, and community impact.

In addition, candidates should demonstrate capability in several of the following areas:

Experience in IT support, systems coordination, or a related technical role.

Working knowledge of Microsoft 365, including administrative functions

Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, Bluebeam, SQL reporting tools, and Ajera or similar ERP systems is preferred.

Experience with website management, graphic design, or digital content development tools.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, professional, and user-friendly documentation.

Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic, driven environment.

Strong attention to detail, organization, and analytical problem-solving skills.

Self‑motivated with a proactive approach to learning, process improvement, and follow-through.

Ability to work collaboratively with staff at all levels of the organization.

Flexibility to respond to time‑sensitive technical, operational, or project‑related needs.

HLA offers a competitive compensation package designed to support professional growth and reward contributions to the firm. This position includes a base hourly salary from $29–$38 per hour, commensurate with experience, and opportunities for overtime compensation based on workload and business needs.
