The Director of Admissions and Recruiting provides leadership for all admissions, recruitment, and Student Life functions at Lamar State College Orange (LSCO). This role oversees the full admissions cycle, including application processing, compliance documentation, and applicant communications, while leading strategic recruiting activities to support enrollment goals. The Director also plans and coordinates student engagement initiatives, campus-wide events, and Student Life programming, and supervises student organizations to promote leadership development and student success. This position is responsible for leveraging institutional systems, including Watermark, to track admissions and recruitment outcomes, support data-informed decision-making, and ensure consistent, accurate messaging to students across the recruitment and onboarding process. Working collaboratively across campus, this position ensures a seamless experience for prospective students from inquiry through enrollment while fostering an inclusive, vibrant campus culture.

Duties/Responsibilities Admissions Management

Oversee all aspects of the admissions process from application submission to acceptance.

Ensure accurate collection, tracking, and maintenance of admissions documentation, including high school transcripts, college transcripts, TSI status, residency data, and bacterial meningitis compliance.

Manage the evaluation and processing of applications in accordance with LSCO and Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board policies.

Oversee the creation, accuracy, and timely delivery of acceptance letters, admissions notifications, and all applicant communication.

Ensure admissions data is entered, monitored, and maintained in the student information system with a high level of accuracy.

Collaborate with Academic Advising, Financial Aid, Testing, and other Student Services departments to ensure seamless onboarding for new students.

Recruiting and Outreach

Develop and implement a comprehensive recruiting plan aligned with college enrollment goals and informed by enrollment data, trend analysis, and community demographics.

Organize, schedule, and participate in on-campus and off-campus recruiting events, including college fairs, high school visits, community events, campus tours, and yield events.

Work collaboratively with Marketing and Instructional Deans to create and coordinate recruitment materials and consistent, timely messaging for prospective students and families across multiple communication channels.

Utilize institutional systems, including Watermark, to track recruitment activities, communication touchpoints, and outcomes to evaluate effectiveness and support continuous improvement.

Build and maintain positive relationships with area high schools, community partners, and other stakeholders to support outreach efforts for high school graduates.

Collaborate with the Dean of Dual Credit Partnerships to support the transition of dual credit students into adult learner pathways and ensure clear communication related to next steps toward enrollment.

Use enrollment data and assessment results to refine recruitment strategies, monitor yield, and recommend adjustments to outreach and messaging efforts.

Student Life and Engagement

Supervise the Student Life program, providing vision and direction for student engagement initiatives, leadership development, and campus involvement.

Oversee and support all student organizations, ensuring compliance with college policies and fostering an inclusive, vibrant campus community.

Coordinate major Student Life events and traditions, working closely with campus partners.

Develop programming designed to increase student belonging, retention, and overall campus experience.

Leadership and Supervision

Supervise admissions staff and Student Life team members.

Provide coaching, training, professional development, and performance evaluations.

Develop and maintain operating procedures to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and excellent service to applicants, students, and families.

Manage departmental budgets and ensure responsible use of resources.

Data, Compliance and Reporting

Monitors admissions metrics and prepares regular reports on applications, enrollment trends, conversion rates, and recruitment outcomes.

Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, including FERPA, TSI rules, and college admissions policies.

Collaborates with Institutional Research to support enrollment analysis and strategic planning.

Minimum/Preferred Qualifications Required Qualifications

Bachelors degree from an accredited institution or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.

Three years of progressively responsible experience in admissions, enrollment management, recruiting, student services, or related areas.

Experience supervising staff or leading teams.

Strong organizational, communication, and customer-service skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a challenging environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Masters degree in higher education, student affairs, business, or related field.

Experience with student information systems and assessment platforms (Watermark, Banner, or similar).

Experience coordinating Student Life, student organizations, or campus programming.

Demonstrated success in recruitment strategy or enrollment growth initiatives.

Supplemental Information Work Environment This position may require occasional evening or weekend work for recruitment events, campus activities, and peak admissions periods.
