Assistant Director of Human Resources
The Arc Lexington, Gloversville, NY, United States
At The Arc Lexington, we know that how we support our employees directly impacts how we support the people we serve. We're looking for an experienced Assistant Director of Human Resources to lead the day-to-day systems and programs that support our workforce. This role oversees benefits, leave management, and HR systems, making sure these areas run smoothly and are easy for employees to understand and use.
This is a key role within HR. You'll work closely with HR leadership, Finance, Payroll, and IT to improve processes, strengthen systems, and make better use of data to support our employees.
In this role, you'll help make HR more consistent, efficient, and easier to navigate. You'll also play an important part in improving how we use systems and data to support decision‑making.
What You'll Do You’ll oversee employee benefits, making sure programs are well managed and that employees and managers have clear, timely information. You’ll lead open enrollment and work with vendors to keep plans running effectively.
You’ll manage leave programs, including FMLA, Paid Family Leave, disability, and workers' compensation, ensuring compliance while supporting employees through the process in a clear and respectful way.
You’ll help improve HR systems by supporting HRIS updates and integrations, working across teams to improve data accuracy and workflows, and helping develop reporting that's actually useful.
You’ll also support overall HR operations by guiding staff, strengthening practices, and assisting with employee relations and investigations when needed.
What Success Looks Like Employees understand and feel supported when using benefits and leave. Systems are reliable, processes are consistent, and HR is seen as a helpful, responsive partner.
What We're Looking For
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required
Minimum of five (5) years of progressive HR experience, including supervisory responsibility
Demonstrated experience in benefits administration and HR operations
Experience with HRIS implementation, integration, or optimization
Strong knowledge of leave management programs (FMLA, Paid Family Leave, disability)
Experience in healthcare, human services, or nonprofit settings preferred
Why Lexington? Join a mission‑driven organization recognized for excellence in supporting people with developmental disabilities across Fulton, Schoharie, and Albany counties. As part of our Human Resources Leadership Team, you'll ensure our services are innovative, person‑centered, and life changing.
Apply today to lead with vision and help every person supported at Lexington live their best life.
Salary: $70,000 – $85,000 per year
