Job Summary As an Assistant Director, you assist the Director of Environmental Services in directing and overseeing the operational needs of the Housekeeping Department. You coordinate the tasks of Operations Managers, serve as a liaison between administration and hospital departments, and provide the highest possible level of service.

Key Responsibilities

Establishes and reviews standards and work procedures for all housekeeping staff in accordance with facility policies.

Plans work schedules, hours, areas of work, and job duties to ensure adequate housekeeping services.

Interviews, selects, hires, evaluates, and recommends termination of housekeeping personnel according to facility standards.

Onboards, trains, develops, and supervises all housekeeping staff.

Performs regular inspections and evaluations of the facility; recommends action items; assists with relocations.

Conducts regular staff meetings and communicates with other departments to coordinate housekeeping activities.

Schedules major project work, ensuring adequate staff and supplies.

Conducts inventory of housekeeping supplies.

Assists Department Director with budgets.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work history (required).

Working knowledge of all housekeeping procedures.

Demonstrated progressive growth in health care housekeeping or facility maintenance.

Strong work ethic, drive, and initiative for quality and customer service.

Excellent written and oral communication, listening, empathy, and problem‑solving skills.

Ability to use a participative approach to staff management, handle stress, organize and prioritize tasks, and develop budgets.

Excellent stress management, administrative, and organizational follow‑through skills.
