Job Summary The Associate Director of Development is responsible for advancing the fundraising goals of two or more units within the Public Service and Outreach Division (PSO) by developing and executing strategic fundraising plans and initiatives, cultivating meaningful relationships with prospects and donors, and securing major gifts.
Key Responsibilities 60%
Build and manage a portfolio of major giving prospects, soliciting gifts of $50,000+; conduct face‑to‑face meetings and stewardship activities.
15%
Oversee the private giving program: tributes, sponsorships, capital campaigns, annual appeals, planned giving marketing, prospect research, recognition and stewardship.
10%
Partner with UGA’s Office of Business Engagement, Foundation Relations, and central development colleagues to submit requests for gifts/grants, collaborate on donor cultivation, and maintain engagement records.
Other duties include research of gift prospects, writing reports, maintaining donor database, attending meetings with PSO directors and development team, and attending donor events as needed.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Progressively responsible fundraising or related experience, including work in all functional areas of development.
Experience with external communication strategies, corporate and foundation campaigns, CRMs and planned gifts.
Strong self‑initiative, attention to detail, professionalism, emotional intelligence, listening and organizational skills.
Excellent written, verbal and presentation communication.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams and database management software.
High sensitivity to donor relationships and respect for donor intent.
Knowledge of legal and ethical standards in fundraising, ensuring compliance and integrity.
Physical Demands
Travel both in‑state and out‑of‑state.
Work evenings and weekends as necessary.
Driving as needed.
Sitting for extended periods.
Lifting up to 25 pounds.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent.
At least 2 years of professional experience in fundraising.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong network of professional and community ties throughout Georgia.
