Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Two (2) years of full-time experience in Communications, Media Relations, or Marketing/Promotions (student experience may be considered). Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Experience with Athletic communications, sports information, and/or Sports Journalism. Experience with a Division I Athletic Program or a professional sports organization. Experience with statistical software and/or multimedia platforms. Experience in athletic game day operations related to PR, Communications, and/or Media. Experience with general graphic design principles, typography, color theory, and production processes for print and digital media. Brief Description of Duties

The Assistant Director for Communications supports the Stony Brook University Athletics Department’s mission by managing the overall communication, branding, and multimedia efforts of the athletic department. The Assistant will be responsible for promoting athletic achievements, managing game day operations, and developing multimedia content to enhance the visibility of Stony Brook University's athletic programs. They will work with local, regional, and national media, as well as internal departments, to support Athletics' goals. Special Notes

This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption. In addition to the employee's base salary, this position is eligible for $4,000 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly. Evening and weekend work will be required at times.
