Instructional Designer
Jetson Home Inc., Centennial, CO, United States
Opportunity:
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Instructional Designer to join our training team and help develop the next generation of HVAC technicians and service professionals. In this role, you will design and deliver a blended learning curriculum – with a strong emphasis on hands‑on, skills‑based training – that supports technician onboarding, ongoing development, and certification readiness. You'll collaborate closely with subject matter experts, field supervisors, and operations leaders to ensure training is practical, accurate, and immediately applicable on the job.
Curriculum & Training Design
Design and develop comprehensive HVAC training programs (covering installation, maintenance, diagnostics, and service procedures) using instructional design principles (ADDIE, SAM, or similar)
Create facilitator guides, learner workbooks, job aids, skills checklists, competency frameworks, and assessments aligned to industry standards.
Hands‑On & Lab‑Based Training
Design and maintain structured lab exercises and practical skills stations for in‑person training environments.
Partner with master technicians and SMEs to ensure technical accuracy of all hands‑on training content.
Develop standardized evaluation rubrics to assess technical performance and coordinate with facilities teams to keep labs properly equipped and reflective of real‑world job conditions.
eLearning Development
Build engaging eLearning modules using tools such as Articulate Storyline, Rise 360, or similar authoring platforms, incorporating scenario‑based and knowledge‑check activities that reinforce field skills and safety procedures.
Maintain eLearning content in the LMS, tracking completion and assessment data to drive continuous improvement.
Video Production
Script, storyboard, and coordinate the production of training videos (including procedure demos, equipment overviews, safety briefings) using tools such as Camtasia, Adobe Premiere, or similar.
Work with videographers or independently capture and edit instructional video content and ensure all video content is clear, professional, and optimized for use in the field on mobile devices.
Collaboration & Project Management
Work closely with field supervisors, master technicians, and product/equipment vendors to gather accurate technical content while managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
Evaluate training effectiveness using post‑training assessments, performance data, and technician feedback, and iterate accordingly.
What You Bring:
10+ years of experience in instructional design, training development, or a related field.
Demonstrated experience designing hands‑on or technical skills training (trades, manufacturing, or field service environment preferred).
