Residential Director: OIDD - Coastal

Overview Residential Director position at Coastal Regional Center, an Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF-IID), BHDD-OIDD. The role operates under the general supervision of the Assistant Facility Administrator and is responsible for planning, implementing, administering, and directing Residential services while supporting a safe, quality, person-centered environment for residents.

Responsibilities

Provide effective leadership and supervision to Lead Direct Support Managers (Lead DSMs), Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professionals (QIDPs)/Direct Support Managers (DSMs), and relevant support staff. Promote solid management practices and ensure high standards of professional services and quality supports at all times.

Facilitate internal compliance and quality improvement mechanisms with Quality Assurance (QA) and Staff Development to prioritize consumer safety and health, ensuring standards of care and support align with applicable regulations (ICF-IID, Agency and Office Directives, and Regional Center Internal Procedures). Ensure staff understand and effectively use Therap.

Monitor campus activities through on-site visits to residences. Provide feedback, corrections, and positive reinforcement. Occasional weekend or after-hours visits to residential units may be required to ensure safety and compliance, coordinating with Campus Support as needed. Determine staffing levels and schedules to meet consumer and operational needs; ensure accurate input and assessment of the target staffing level (TSL) report.

Maintain effective and supportive relationships with families and consumers. Follow up on concerns and complaints related to residential living or other supports provided.

Review and make recommendations regarding expenditure control; identify needs related to staff, consumers, and physical property to enhance functioning, safety, and well-being of consumers.

Ensure all consumers have access to self-advocacy opportunities and inclusion on the Olmstead List for less restrictive placement if desired. Actively participate in a self-advocacy program and maintain a current Olmstead Report of individuals interested in less restrictive placement.

Keep the Assistant Facility Administrator informed of pertinent information. Serve as a member of the Executive Committee and other committees as assigned. Ensure participation in relevant team meetings and planning sessions and compliance with the Residential Services Program’s operational expectations.

Perform other related duties as assigned, completing projects in a timely and accurate manner.

The position is located at Coastal Regional Center, an ICF-IID within BHDD-OIDD, Summerville, SC, serving residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Minimum And Additional Requirements A bachelor's degree and relevant program experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Management experience in the field of intellectual and related disabilities with supervisory experience in Residential Services for an ICF-IID.

Strong motivational, coaching, and teaching skills; ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and responsibilities.

Sound decision making with effective written and oral communication; sensitivity to the needs of persons with developmental disabilities and their families.

Ability to facilitate a team-oriented service process and understand agency missions, programs, and objectives.

Knowledge of management principles, organizational structure, and applicable government processes; ability to interpret and apply rules and regulations; ability to prepare reports and make presentations.

Additional Information Employment Contingency:

Employment is contingent upon pre-employment screenings: medical screening (including drug screening), background checks (including fingerprinting), DSS Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry screening, OIG List of Excluded Individuals/Entities, driving record check, and verification of educational credentials. Immunization:

If required to work directly with consumers, TB testing must be completed prior to starting employment. New healthcare employees must provide documentation of immunity or be immunized against measles, mumps, rubella, pertussis, varicella, and hepatitis B prior to employment.

In accordance with the State’s Disaster Plan, employees may be required to work during emergencies or disasters.
