The Director of Annual Giving & Events is responsible for leading Mercy’s signature fundraising events, managing annual appeal strategy and execution, and overseeing key student-led fundraising initiatives. This position plays a critical role in driving philanthropic revenue, strengthening donor relationships, and ensuring a seamless and mission-aligned donor experience.

Primary Responsibilities

Lead planning and execution of Mercy’s two premier fundraising events: GolfFest and FIESTA.

Develop and achieve event budgets, revenue projections, and expense management plans.

Analyze current events platform for growth and innovation.

Oversee sponsorship strategy, underwriting opportunities, and donor cultivation tied to events.

Manage volunteer committees and event logistics.

Partner with internal teams and vendors to ensure high-quality execution and brand alignment.

Analyze post-event performance and recommend strategies for growth.

Create a dashboard to track key metrics for events.

Annual Giving & Stewardship

Plan and execute annual appeal campaigns, including segmentation strategy, messaging, timelines, and multi-channel outreach.

Oversee Mercy’s monthly giving program, including growth strategy and donor engagement.

Develop and coordinate stewardship activities to ensure timely, meaningful donor acknowledgment.

Create and manage detailed campaign calendars and workflows to ensure all deadlines are met.

Expand community partnerships for fundraising potential.

Track and report on campaign performance metrics.

Collaborate closely with Advancement and Marketing team members to align messaging, branding, and fundraising strategy.

Assist in drafting, editing, and finalizing appeal communications across print, email, web, and social channels.

Ensure messaging reflects Mercy’s mission, values, and strategic priorities.

Collaborate with leadership team to seek grant funding sources.

Establish/participate in a peer network to identify best practices/partnering opportunities.

Plan and lead student fundraising efforts, including the Fall Dance-A-Thon and Spring Plant Sale.

Integrate student fundraising into the broader culture of philanthropy at Mercy.

Monitor financial outcomes and provide post-campaign analysis.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.

2-3 years of progressive experience in advancement, fundraising, or event management.

Proven track record of meeting or exceeding revenue goals.

Strong project management and organizational skills.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Experience managing budgets and vendor relationships.

Willingness to explore technology tools to assist with efficiency/effectiveness.

Passion for Catholic education and Mercy’s mission.

Demonstrate ability to work in diverse teams.

Full-time, on-site.

Occasional weekend and evenings may be required.

Salary Range: $55,000-$65,000, based on experience and qualifications
