
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF PATIENT OBSERVATION AND TRANSPORTATION - ANCILLARY SERVICE

Job Summary The Assistant Director of Patient Transportation and Observation has direct oversight of the Patient Observation and Patient Transport programs.
Key Responsibilities
Establishes and reviews standards and work procedures for all department staff in accordance with established policies and practices of the facility
Plans work schedules, hours, areas of work, and job duties to ensure adequate services are rendered to all areas
Interviews, selects, hires, evaluates, and recommends termination of department personnel in accordance with facility standards
Orients, trains, and supervises department staff
Completes daily assessments and evaluations; has the ability to recommend action items; builds and maintains relationships with key clients
Conducts regular staff meetings and communicates with members of other departments consistently
Travels and manages department staff and operations within designated hospitals
Assists System Director with budget and is able to understand and communicate budget-related items/reporting such as payroll and labor expenses
Follows-up on all client requests
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree desired; HS diploma/GED required
Working knowledge of all patient observation and safety procedures preferred
Demonstrated leadership/management experience required
Ability to travel locally as business needs require
Good work ethic, intense drive and initiative for quality and customer service
Excellent written and oral communication, listening and empathy, and prioritization skills
Ability to apply a participative approach to managing staff, to function appropriately under stress, to organize and prioritize tasks, and to work within budgets with a complete understanding of facility needs and requirements
Excellent stress management skills, administrative and organizational, and follow-through (with associates and clients) skills required
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel required
