Position Overview Director of Development, Major Gifts (Administrator II) – responsible for leading fundraising initiatives for the University Advancement community, focusing on major gift development across the Vice President offices of Student Affairs/Strategic Enrollment Management and Human Resources and Inclusive Excellence.

Work Schedule Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM with occasional early morning, evening or weekend hours.

Salary Range Not anticipated to exceed $7,600 – $9,300 per month.

Responsibilities

Direct strategy and execution of a multimillion‑dollar fundraising plan in partnership with executive leadership.

Manage major gift prospect portfolio (≈125 prospects) including qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.

Build and maintain relationships with individual donors, foundations, and corporations.

Plan and execute donor events, communications, and stewardship activities.

Collaborate with university programs and departments to align private support with strategic initiatives.

Provide counsel and expertise to programs and administrators regarding donor engagement.

Essential Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and 4–5 years of demonstrated major gift fundraising success.

Ability to solicit and secure gifts of at least $25,000 and develop persuasive cultivation strategies.

Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.

Experience planning and executing meaningful donor events.

Understanding of university culture and ability to collaborate across departments.

Willingness to travel locally to meet prospective donors.

Proficiency with Windows‑based computer systems and general office equipment.

Knowledge of annual campaigns, corporate and foundation philanthropy, and digital fundraising.

Ability to design and implement effective donor stewardship strategies.

Willingness to complete a background check and other required employment screenings.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working as a fundraising officer in higher education.

Experience in principal and planned giving.

Experience collaborating with volunteer groups and supporting fundraising campaigns.
