Position

Camp Falcon - Princeton YMCA (June 8 – August 28) The Camp Falcon health director supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the general direction of the Camp Director, the Health Director will ensure a safe environment for the children during camp. The ideal candidate must love children, possess strong communication skills, and be alert. Individuals must be at least 21 years of age. The individual must be a nursing professional, nursing student, or an EMT and have current CPR and First Aid certifications.

Essential Functions Ensure, above all else, campers are safe.

Ensure each camper has on file a health history and examination form, as required on Camp Docs.

Organize all camper medications and set up a dispensing system with medication binder(s) with instructions.

Conduct inventory of supplies and place orders when necessary, ensuring the timely arrival of supplies.

Establish and follow appropriate medical routines, including record keeping in daily medical log, disposal of medical waste, managing and safeguarding medications, and utilizing approved standing orders.

Check, maintain, and issue first aid kits when needed.

Participate in and lead staff training pertaining to camp health and safety, CPR, first aid, and infectious control best practices.

Keep accident/incident reports for risk-management assessment.

Care for ill or injured campers or staff; provide first aid for minor injuries and illnesses (cuts, scrapes, bruises, dehydration, sunburn, homesickness).

Monitor the health of all staff.

Serve as a medical resource bridging basic medical knowledge and emergency services (911).

Monitor and evaluate camp procedures, facilities, and conditions and suggest health-focused modifications.

Perform program support duties as needed.

Safety Attend regular staff meetings and complete required trainings.

Uphold camp safety standards and practice risk management and disaster procedures.

Follow all Association Aquatics Policy Guidelines and applicable licensing standards.

Support aquatic activities and assist with arrival/departure logistics (e.g., dressing rooms).

Secure and submit all accident reports and report concerns to Camp Director or supervisor.

Other Duties Maintain a professional demeanor as a YMCA representative.

Wear Camp T-shirt daily and maintain a positive, reliable attitude.

Create a positive, nurturing learning environment aligned with youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

Qualifications Minimum five years of experience working at a camp or with children in a leadership capacity.

Ability to independently lead, plan, and participate in a variety of activities.

Experience in supervision.

At least 18 years of age.

CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse Prevention training within 30 days of hire date.

Excellent communication skills; experience with diverse populations preferred.

Work Environment & Physical Demands Standard physical demands to perform essential job functions; reasonable accommodations may be provided.

Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to supervise program activities in indoor and outdoor settings.

Ability to work in environments with heat and humidity; respond to emergencies and administer CPR/First Aid.

Capability to plan, lead and participate in a range of activities in various settings.
