Location Description Wakefield is one of the largest production facilities within Michael Foods. We serve as a flex plant and are able to produce everything from a whole pasteurized egg to liquid, dried, hardboiled, and curds.
Responsibilities HR Representative will be cross‑trained in various areas of HR responsibility but will have specific focus areas. HR duties include administrative tasks, assisting employees, involvement with employee recognition and events, benefit enrollment, recruitment/orientation, retention, compliance, communications, and more. This position is responsible for complying with safety work rules at all times and reinforcing safety as a core value. Ensures that all policies, procedures, and activities related to Food Safety & Quality are followed uniformly to reduce product and process variability.
Assists with administration of various human resources programs and functions. HR Representatives will have areas of focus based on department needs.
Receptionist front desk coverage – greeting visitors, redirecting calls and visitors.
Attendance tracking & discipline notices, service awards.
Update job descriptions and postings as needed.
Assist with recruitment (non‑exempt) – posting vacancies, interviewing, offering, pre‑employment, orientation, job fairs, school presentations, tours.
Recognition of employee achievements.
Leave of absence management.
Maintain anniversary and birthday calendars.
Plan and execute employee meals and events.
Conduct exit and stay interviews.
Support retention efforts.
Handle new hire benefit enrollments, annual enrollments, and insurance questions.
Ensure company bulletin boards and posting are current.
Filing duties.
Manage I9 expiration and system maintenance.
Perform administrative duties (data entry, answering phones, photocopying, faxing, filing).
Assist employees as needed.
Compile, update, and generate reports (audits, etc.).
Assist with training, presentation, and events (designing PowerPoint, room set‑up).
Provide backup to others in the HR Department as needed.
Participate on committees as needed for HR presence and support.
Assume personal responsibility to maintain a safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and incorporate safety and health into all tasks.
Adhere to quality work practices, follow GMPs, maintain sanitary conditions, and ensure product quality is maintained.
Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety and quality.
Work overtime and on holidays when needed.
Ensure regulatory compliance at all times.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups, customers, vendors, or employees.
Professional English oral and written communication skills required. Bilingual in Spanish desired.
Basic arithmetic skills: add, subtract, multiply, divide two‑digit numbers including currency, weight, volume, and distance.
Ability to solve practical problems and handle a variety of concrete variables with limited standardization.
Interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, and diagram/schedule form.
Licenses, Certificates, Registrations
Driver’s License required.
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills
Bachelor’s in Human Resources, Business or Management preferred.
Previous HR experience desired.
Previous clerical experience desired.
Ability to work independently or in a team as needed.
Proficiency in computer programs (Word and Excel required; PowerPoint).
Strong follow‑up, problem‑solving, communication, creativity and interpersonal skills.
Ability to multi‑task and adjust priorities efficiently to meet business demands.
Organized and detail‑oriented.
Professional handling of personnel issues and maintaining confidentiality.
Current and valid driver’s license preferred.
Knowledge of ATS and/or HRIS system desired.
