At Dungarvin, we don’t just provide support—we transform lives. As a Program Director, you will lead residential programs serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities alongside complex behavioral and mental health needs. This is not a traditional group home leadership role. This is an opportunity for a strong, hands‑on leader who thrives in high‑acuity environments, can confidently guide teams through crisis situations, and is passionate about person-centered, trauma-informed care.
What You’ll Do
Lead and oversee residential programs, including high-acuity behavioral homes (AFH settings)
Supervise, coach, and develop teams of Direct Support Professionals (DSPs)
Drive implementation of Behavior Support Plans (BSPs) and partner on Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs)
Provide leadership during crisis situations, ensuring safe, consistent, and compliant responses
Collaborate with families, case managers, and clinical teams to ensure quality care
Manage program operations including staffing, budgets, and compliance
Train new and existing staff on behavioral interventions, safety protocols, and best practices
Conduct performance management, including coaching, evaluations, and disciplinary action as needed
Participate in an on‑call rotation, supporting both traditional and behavioral programs
Work Environment and Office Hours:
This position is in‑office, providing site supervision for direct care staff. This role involves typical office hours, Monday through Friday, full‑time. Additionally, the Program Director must have a flexible schedule with the ability to be on‑call during the on‑call rotation (this includes weekends and odd hours).
Qualifications What Makes You a Strong Fit We’re looking for leaders who are confident, experienced, and ready to step into complex environments:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, Behavioral Science, or related field preferred
2+ years of leadership experience, including hiring, coaching, and performance management
Required or strongly preferred:
Experience supporting individuals with co‑occurring developmental disabilities and mental health diagnoses
At least one‑year, hands‑on experience with behavioral interventions and Behavior Support Plans (BSPs)
Proven ability to manage crisis situations, de‑escalation, and high‑risk behaviors
Experience in residential, group home, or behavioral health settings highly preferred
Strong decision‑making, communication, and organizational skills
Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and acceptable driving record
Additional Information At Dungarvin, diversity and inclusion are a part of what makes our organization strong. Together, we can continue to work towards an inclusive culture that supports our employees and persons served. Dungarvin is an affirmative action and equal opportunity employer.
