$80,000 - $130,000 / year
Description As a Bridge Designer, you will be responsible for all aspects of the structural design, layout, and plan production on large multi‑discipline transportation projects, including single‑ and multi‑span bridges and complex retaining walls, requiring close coordination with roadway, drainage, and other disciplines.
Core Responsibilities
Leading the design for large, multi‑structure transportation projects
Be enthusiastic, dedicated, and self‑disciplined to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment
Prioritize work to meet various project requests and deadlines, answering to various engineers and project managers
Develop designs in Power InRoads, OpenRoads Designer, or AutoCAD Civil3D
Produce accurate output with a keen eye for aesthetics
Manage project data files from various sources
Be proactive and responsive in effectively communicating with colleagues and clients, both in‑person and virtually
Training and mentorship of junior CAD staff
Manage workspaces and develop plan sets in ORD, including sheet creation and plan set development
Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies
10+ years of relevant bridge design experience
Associates degree or equivalent technical degree
Knowledge of state DOT standards is a plus, but not required
Prioritize work to meet various project requests and deadlines, answering to various engineers and project managers
Be familiar with Power InRoads, OpenRoads Designer, or AutoCAD Civil3D
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings; ability to think 3‑dimensionally
Must be able to work independently with the ability to accomplish multiple tasks, with competing priorities
Be a professional, creative, team‑focused individual who works well with others in a team environment
Be enthusiastic, dedicated, and self‑disciplined to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment
