User Experience Designer #1053241 Job Description: The GDIA Cost Efficiency Analytics team develops data products, analytic software and provides insights to a broad range of skill teams and delivers value to using critical thinking, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and optimization techniques.
We are looking for a Product Designer who thrives on complexity. In GDIA you won't just be designing interfaces; you will be designing the "Data Experience" (DX). You will work closely with software architects, data engineers, and product managers to design components which help to build the tools that power the company's future.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate: Pairing with teams of system and software engineers to make sure everyone is on the same page. Spearheading communication throughout the launch process.
Personas: Document personas (job title, job description, experience level, goals, pain points) by performing interviews, JAD sessions, user research, surveys and observing people doing their job. Understand pain points, improvements, possible benefits, guidelines and objectives.
Use Cases: Identify and document use cases.
Requirements Management: Identify and document requirements. Review requirements to ensure that best practices have been adhered to (e.g.; testable; requirements are not combined; etc.). Work with product team to ensure that requirements traceability has been established.
Map/Optimize Processes: Map and improve processes via swim lane diagrams and value stream maps (VSMs).
Understand Architecture: Work with architects to understand / design (as needed) the product, technical and data architecture and how they affect characteristics of the product.
Evaluate: Provide feedback and recommendations on presented products.
Design: Product visuals (sketches, graphics and branding), various prototypes, informative and interactive designs, user flows/journeys, wireframes, mapping and design boards needed to demonstrate planned functionality. Review the wireframes with users to get feedback and ensure they are intuitively obvious from a usability perspective.
Usability / User Experience: Perform usability testing (heuristic reviews, A/B testing, use case walk‑throughs, etc.) to ensure that the product achieves the requirements and adheres to usability best practices.
Test: Perform application testing to ensure it achieves the requirements.
Train: Assist with creation of training materials.
Must Have Skills:
Personal and professional include strong verbal/written communications, critical thinking, consulting, decision making.
Knowledge of interviewing techniques.
User persona definition.
User journey mapping.
Use case definition and requirements / requirements traceability.
User interface design and development + experience creating styles and style guides.
Knowledge of the Veterans With Disabilities Act and how it affects internal‑facing and external‑facing applications, plus knowledge of WCAG (World Consortium of Accessibility Guidelines) and process mapping / swim lanes.
Knowledge of and experience with testing products.
