WHAT WE EXPECT OF YOU The National Hockey League is looking for our next class of interns to join our 2026 Summer Internship Program.
The SGL Intern will support the Social Impact, Growth Initiatives, and Legislative Affairs (SGL) department with all projects and programming currently underway. They will gain hands‑on exposure to areas like youth experiences and programming, social impact, segmentation marketing, and employee engagement. The Intern will leave with a core understanding of and education in the various ways to grow the sport, including issues and barriers to entry for the entire hockey ecosystem, inclusive of fans, youth, players, and employees. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for growing the sport of hockey. They will have some experience and interest in marketing to growth cohorts who represent the future of the sport.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Support SGL initiatives and programming related to youth experiences and programming, social impact, segmentation marketing, and employee engagement
Conduct research on industry and market trends, competitor programming, etc.
Brainstorm new initiatives and programming for the department
Assist with the creation of the 2026-2027 Season programming & events strategy
Manage data collection and analysis to measure social impact and related metrics
Support additional ad-hoc projects as they arise
QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge Areas/Experience: Required.
Required: Project and program management capabilities
Passion for growing the sport of hockey and creating a welcoming environment
Preferred
Youth-based and/or sport-based experience a plus
Education/Certifications
Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student in an accredited university/college pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
Required Skills
Entrepreneurial spirit, self-motivated, self-starter, with comfort working in small teams
Highly organized, attention to detail, and strong follow-through
Strong written and verbal communication skills
