Position Title:
554730-Technical Presentation Designer & Visual Storyteller
Location:
San Jose, CA
Pay Rate:
$65-$75
Contract Duration:
6 months
Description We are seeking a Technical Presentation Designer & Visual Storyteller to support our Marketing Communications team. This role is for someone who loves communicating through PowerPoint – not just how slides look, but how ideas are structured and sequenced. You will help the team and stakeholders transform complex data, technical concepts, and results into compelling visual stories, create executive‑ready presentations, design scalable PowerPoint systems/templates that are easily replicated, and, when helpful, capture and edit lightweight video content that brings those stories to life.
Responsibilities
Collaborate directly with stakeholders to clarify goals, audience needs, and key messages.
Refine content by identifying the most important information and what should be removed to improve clarity, pacing, and emphasis.
Translate complex concepts, data, text‑heavy content, and technical concepts into digestible, logical visual flows.
Design slide flows that guide understanding, not just visual appeal.
Content may be for keynote style presentations used externally or for internal use (All Hands, pitch decks, etc.).
Create executive‑ready PowerPoint presentations that align with our brand guidelines.
Transform data into clear, meaningful infographics, charts, and diagrams that communicate the message instantly to the audience.
Apply excellent attention to detail regarding typography, hierarchy, grids, and brand alignment to ensure a consistent polish across all slides.
Be a visual storyteller who can leverage both design acumen and technical fluency to elevate our communications.
PowerPoint Templates
Design and maintain robust PowerPoint templates, master slides, and layout systems that allow teams to move faster and maintain brand consistency.
Optimize slides for reuse, adaptability, and long‑term maintainability.
Video Capture & Editing
Translate presentation narratives into short‑form video content (e.g., explainers, walkthroughs, internal updates).
Capture high‑quality video using lightweight setups (phone, webcam, basic lighting/audio).
Ensure video content aligns with slide narratives/messaging/team direction.
Provide video edits as needed (adding subtitles, cutting video, adding text, etc.).
Requirements
Clear background check, drug test, and education check required.
Must be authorized to work in the US for any employer without sponsorship.
Principal only (no Corp to Corp).
7+ years of experience in presentation design, narrative design, communications, and/or marketing/technical marketing.
Deep expertise in Microsoft PowerPoint, including master slides, complex layouts, and lightweight animation.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud Applications for creating custom digital design assets.
Digital portfolio demonstrating passion for presentation and data visualization (includes PowerPoint presentations, infographics, videos, and examples of complex information made simple).
BA, BS, MA, or MFA equivalent field (or equivalent experience).
We encourage minorities, women, protected veterans, and disabled individuals to apply for all positions that they may be qualified for. We maintain a drug‑free workplace and perform pre‑employment substance abuse testing and background checks.
