Key responsibilities may include:

Lead a team of employees responsible for various accounting, reporting, forecasting, and close activities

Lead compilation of monthly financial reporting package, partnering across finance and with senior leadership

Lead the annual R-1 and quarterly STB and AAR reporting processes

Envision and drive the internal and STB reporting automation initiative

Partner with BNSF Logistics and other subsidiaries and jointly‑owned companies to ensure smooth and accurate accounting and reporting

Provide ad‑hoc accounting guidance and help research issues

Daily work is conducted in an indoor office environment.

Relocation assistance may be available based on business needs

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Able to work in the US without company sponsorship now AND in the future.

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related business field

Minimum 6 years’ experience in finance-related field, as applicable

Expert understanding of financial statements and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

Experience with the reporting requirements of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)

Experience researching SEC/accounting issues and conclude on the proper SEC/accounting treatment

Strong analytical and personal computer skills (specifically Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint)

Strong interpersonal and oral/written communication skills

Candidate must be detail‑oriented with the ability to adjust to multiple demands and shifting priorities

Strong project management skills and ability to meet deadline‑oriented tasks

Ability to organize team efforts to accomplish common goals

PREFERRED QUALITATIONS:

Masters’ degree in accounting or business administration

Public accounting experience

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license

Knowledge of SAP
