Job Purpose The Lifestyle Director is responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing a dynamic calendar of social, educational, cultural, and recreational programs that enrich the lives of residents and foster a vibrant sense of community. This role requires creativity, organization, and strong interpersonal skills to ensure that programs meet a variety of resident interests and support overall wellbeing. The Lifestyle Director serves as a key ambassador of community engagement, building connections with residents, families, staff, and outside organizations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Develop, plan, distribute and oversee a diverse monthly calendar of activities, programs, outings, and special events.
Engage residents to understand their interests and incorporate feedback into program planning.
Coordinate and host events such as fitness and wellness classes, lectures, clubs, social gatherings, and cultural outings.
Organize group excursions to local restaurants, theaters, museums, shopping centers, and community events.
Build partnerships with local organizations, entertainers, and cultural groups to enhance offerings.
Collaborate with other departments (dining, housekeeping, transportation, etc.) to ensure seamless event execution.
Promote activities through flyers, newsletters, digital displays, and community communications. Assist and encourage residents to participate in group activities.
Assist in orienting new residents, foster resident participation and engagement through personal invitations, reminders, and relationship‑building.
Maintain activity budgets, manage supplies, and ensure proper use of resources.
Committed to working with residents and families to develop and implement strategies that promote person‑centered care.
Serve as a role model for enthusiasm, positivity, and exceptional customer service.
Apply a “5 Star” customer service approach in all aspects of the job.
Actively support Wingate’s commitment to providing “5 Star” service on all quality objectives, with an emphasis on continual improvement.
Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and standards of conduct.
Report any known or suspected violations of policy and procedures, regulations or standards of conduct to the appropriate managers.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in recreation, hospitality, social services, or a related field preferred (equivalent experience considered).
Experience in program planning, event coordination, or recreational services, preferably in senior living, hospitality, or community programming.
Strong organizational, time‑management, and multitasking skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage diverse groups.
Creativity and enthusiasm for developing innovative and engaging programs.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with activity scheduling software preferred.
Ability to organize, plan and supervise group recreational activities.
