Schedule: 8:00 AM—4:30 PM, with an hour for lunch; Monday through Friday (hours and days to be determined). Work may include some evening or weekend hours for special events; must be willing to work a flexible schedule.

Hours per Week: 22.5; Part Time

Salary: $24 - $26 hourly

Job Summary An SBDC Business Consultant provides counseling and delivers programs to individuals, businesses, communities, organizations, and other public agencies in an assigned geographic territory. A business consultant must have a broad base of business knowledge, excellent research and analytical skills, be a creative thinker to assist with problem‑solving, and have the ability to effectively manage multiple projects and clients simultaneously. These duties require the integration of business theory and practice, thus necessitating professional development activities and specific SBDC training. Multi‑county travel may be needed to serve the area’s assigned counties. Consultants work collaboratively with private‑sector businesses to become leaders and instructors in the local business community, develop specific and relevant areas of expertise, and apply this knowledge through the creation of new training programs, consulting tools, and research projects responsive to the needs of the specific business community served. Applicants must have a good working knowledge of basic business tools to include financial analysis, business research, marketing, and accounting, and be proficient in the use of computers and MS Office. Consultants must be comfortable speaking in public to represent the SBDC at functions such as educational workshops, Chamber of Commerce events, and meetings with bankers, government officials, and resource providers.

Responsibilities

Provide business counseling and deliver programs to stakeholders within the assigned geographic territory.

Integrate business theory and practice, engage in professional development activities, and comply with SBDC training.

Travel to multiple counties to serve the area’s assigned counties.

Develop, refine, and implement training programs, consulting tools, and research projects responsive to business community needs.

Represent the SBDC at public functions, including workshops, Chamber of Commerce events, and meetings with various stakeholders.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in business or a combination of education and relevant experience.

Knowledge and proficiency in financial analysis, business research, marketing, accounting, MS Office, and the use of computers.

Comfortable public speaking to diverse audiences.
