Position Summary The Relationship Banker is part of the bank’s retail/consumer loan department. The primary responsibility is to help deepen customer relationships, attract additional customers, and provide excellent customer service. The role involves originating consumer loans, making credit decisions within authority guidelines, overseeing overall credit quality and fee income, opening new deposit accounts, and supporting teller activity during peak times. The position also includes completing sales activities such as soliciting banking relationships, developing prospect lists, and other tasks as requested by the Branch Manager or Retail Manager.

Job Duties Loan Origination

Generate consumer loans within guidelines set by bank policy and growth targets, including interviewing customers and completing loan applications.

Authorize or recommend approval of consumer loans within authority guidelines.

Sales

Responsible for retail product sales, deepening account relationships, soliciting prospects, and cross‑selling to bank accounts.

Work toward production goals set in these areas.

Deposit Accounts

Assist customers with deposit, withdrawal, and loan inquiry transactions.

Open new accounts for walk‑in customers—checking, savings, certificates, and IRAs—and provide teller services as needed.

Explain bank products and their value to customers.

Assist walk‑in and phone customers with service or product issues, including quality issue tracking and communication.

Understand operational procedures for retail delivery, including product functionality, account documentation, platform/operational issues, CIP procedures, etc.

Customer Service

Handle deposits, withdrawals, transfers, cashier checks, money orders, gift cards, and other related services.

Understand and comply with related laws and regulations such as the Bank Secrecy Act, privacy, and funds availability policy.

Provide a high level of customer service and maintain account‑related support, including address changes and check orders.

Promote electronic delivery products and maintain competency with online/mobile banking.

Other

Assist in other bank activities as requested.

Participate actively in the community.

Follow procedures and policies ensuring compliance with bank policies and all applicable federal and state banking regulations.

Comply with attendance and work hour standards.

Qualifications Education / Experience

High School diploma or equivalent; a 2‑year degree preferred.

Two‑three years of customer service or teller experience, or relevant experience.

Computer skills and basic office equipment usage.

Travel A valid driver’s license is required for travel to bank offices, training sessions, customer meetings, and community engagements.

Physical Requirements Job duties involve speaking or hearing regularly; occasional standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, or crouching. Employees must regularly lift up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision requirements include close, distance, color, and depth perception.
