POSITION SPECIFICS
Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics seeks an Assistant Director of Strategic Communications for the women’s ice hockey and men’s & women’s cross country, track & field teams. The candidate will serve as sport contact, generating feature content, photo, video, and other coverage for GoPSUsports.com and team social channels; producing online team record books, news releases and feature stories; responding to media requests; facilitating social media in line with department goals; staffing home and select away events; supervising student assistants, statistical crews, and other event support personnel.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Generate feature content, photo, video, and other coverage for GoPSUsports.com and team social channels.
Produce online team record books, news releases, and feature stories.
Respond to media requests.
Facilitate social media in line with department goals.
Staff home and select away events.
Supervise student assistants, statistical crews, and other event support personnel.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations or related field.
1+ year(s) of relevant experience (or 3+ years for Advanced Professional).
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere, Spark, etc.), website content management systems, social media platforms and Statcrew/NCAA Live Stats.
Experience in photography, recording and editing video desired.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Knowledge of NCAA rules and compliance.
Initiative, creativity and independence.
Valid driver’s license and motor vehicle records check.
SAFETY & BACKGROUND CHECKS
Employment requires successful completion of background checks and motor vehicle background check.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Salary range: $46,400.00 – $74,000.00. Comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, retirement, paid time off, and 75% tuition discount are available.
