Recreational Program Coordinator
The purpose of this position is to perform responsible professional work in implementing various recreational programs and activities for senior citizens. This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences. The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary. Conducts and supervises parks/recreational activities to include sports, athletic tournaments, leisure games, cultural arts and other activities. Schedules and coordinates the use of community center, parks and facilities at an assigned park. Demonstrates, organizes, teaches and leads parks/recreational activities for senior citizens. Assists in supervising assigned personnel and volunteers. Assists in collecting and reporting fees and charges. Assists in keeping records and making reports. Makes budget recommendations for the operation of the center facilities and programs. Completes special projects and performs other miscellaneous duties as required. Performs related work as assigned. MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent supplemented by specialized courses/training equivalent to completion of one (1) year of college. Preferred an Associate's Degree Over one month and up to and including three months of related experience. ServSafe certification. Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history. All applicants tentatively selected for a position with Beaufort County Council will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for the illegal use of drugs and to a background check prior to appointment.
