Role Overview As a Photojournalist at Spectrum News, you will work with a talented journalist department to shoot, edit, and deliver captivating video content for newscasts across television, connected television, and digital platforms. You’ll bring fresh angles, lighting, and storytelling to enhance the immediacy and accuracy of the news we share with our communities.
Responsibilities You will:
Capture high‑quality footage at local events and news situations.
Operate ENG/SNG/DSNG equipment and bonded cellular streaming devices.
Edit footage into concise, compelling stories in line with editorial standards.
Collaborate with producers, anchors, and other reporters to integrate visual elements.
Travel within the assigned market to locate and secure moving stories.
Perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 100 lb and working in various weather conditions.
Required Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of experience shooting and editing television news footage.
Bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field, or equivalent television work experience.
Proficiency operating ENG, SNG, satellite vehicles, and bonded cellular streaming platforms.
Strong communication skills with an ability to convey solutions clearly and relate to diverse audiences.
Positive, solution‑focused attitude and willingness to cover flexible shifts, stand‑by, and travel.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with DSNG technology.
Working Conditions
Indoor climate‑controlled newsroom during weekdays.
Outdoor duties throughout the year with possible exposure to extreme heat, cold, or inclement weather.
Driving company vehicles safely and obeying all traffic laws.
Physical demands of lifting up to 100 lb and the ability to distinguish colors and discern sounds.
Compensation The base salary range for this position is $20.00 to $30.10 per hour, with additional incentives such as bonuses possible depending on skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
