Forge is a heat pump installation company in the greater Boston area. We install both ductless and ducted heat pump systems. Our field team consists of HVAC technicians and electricians.
About The Position Forge is seeking an experienced and motivated Residential HVAC & Heat Pump Installer to act as a knowledgeable helper to the Lead Installer. This role requires solid residential installation experience, particularly with ducted and ductless systems. Candidates should have at least 2 years of field experience in HVAC work. The position is for a technician who can perform quality work efficiently, work independently on most parts of a job, fabricate basic ductwork (transitions, plenums, etc.), troubleshoot system issues, and contribute to high‑quality installations. The preferred employee will work as part of a 2–3 person crew, collaborate with the lead installer, and may provide light guidance to junior crew members while growing toward crew lead.
Compensation Pay range: $25–$32 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
What You’ll Do
Install and start up ducted and ductless heat pump systems with minimal supervision. Perform ductwork installation, including fabrication of transitions and plenums, and small on‑site adjustments.
Conduct quality checks to ensure installations meet Forge standards, client needs, and manufacturer specifications. Identify and resolve basic issues during installation or startup phases.
Carry heavy HVAC equipment, run line sets with extension ladders, work on building exteriors and in tight spaces (attics, crawl spaces). Perform physically demanding tasks in varying weather and temperature conditions.
Follow company and industry safety guidelines and protocols. Communicate effectively with customers, peers, and office support. Maintain a professional and respectful demeanor on‑site and when interacting with customers. Occasionally provide guidance to more junior installers and contribute to a positive team culture.
Qualifications
At least 2 years of residential HVAC installation experience, including exposure to ducted and ductless jobs.
Strong understanding of HVAC system design, airflow, and installation best practices.
Ability to fabricate basic ductwork components such as plenum boxes, transitions, and fittings.
Experience working independently on installations or taking responsibility for parts of a job.
EPA certification required.
Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in attics, crawl spaces, on ladders, and under varying conditions.
Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
Authorized to work in the U.S.
