Position Overview
More than perhaps any other factor, the degree to which a university attracts and retains qualified students determines the success or failure of that institution. The Enrollment Management division is a key player in this activity and has a profound effect on the institution's success. Enrollment Management (EM) includes the following functional units: Office of Undergraduate Admissions, Graduate Enrollment Management, Financial Aid and Scholarships, Office of the University Registrar, Student Lifecycle Technology, Enrollment Marketing Communications, and Enrollment Management Services.
The division is committed to developing a data-informed, forward-looking, comprehensive enrollment strategy that enables the institution to pursue strategic goals in an integrated and intentional manner.
The Office of Admissions reports to the Vice Provost for Enrollment Management and includes the following functional units: Office of Undergraduate Admissions, Financial Aid and Scholarships, Student Lifecycle Technology, Office of the University Registrar, Enrollment Marketing and Communications, and Graduate Admissions. Enrollment Management is committed to fostering a welcoming and supportive work environment.
A key member of the admissions team, an Admissions Representative must have a passion for the University of Kansas, be highly motivated, goal-oriented, and can articulate the values and objectives of the University of Kansas to attract, recruit, admit, and enroll a high-quality student population to meet the enrollment goals of KU. The admissions team is highly trained in university information and recruitment tactics to provide the highest level of service and understanding of students from various backgrounds, interests and experiences. The Admissions Representative position is a combination of people-facing responsibilities as well as effectively managing administrative tasks. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Freshmen Recruitment who seeks to expand a cohesive, supportive, and productive team.
Duties include communicating daily and building relationships both in person and virtually with prospective students and families and school counselors. Admission representatives manage correspondence, coordinate on- and off-campus recruitment responsibilities, and organize a travel schedule. Admissions representatives are responsible for interpreting data to tailor outreach efforts to students in assigned territories with the goal of elevating KU's market position and profile. Extensive travel may be required within the representative's recruitment territories. Some evening and weekend work is required. Personal KU experience and general knowledge of the university are required.

Job Description 70% Recruitment and Territory Management
Utilizes both in-person and digital strategies to recruit future Jayhawks in a defined territory, meeting and exceeding goals when opportunities exist.
Collaborates with Assistant Director and a supportive team to analyze data and past productivity to devise, implement and assess recruitment plan and strategy in the assigned territory, which includes visiting high schools, attending college fairs, area receptions, and events.
Engages prospective students on their Jayhawk journey communicating about academic programs, processes, and services to a wide range of prospective students and families.
Advises students and families of admission and scholarship requirements and/or transfer guidelines.
Manages multiple communication channels to provide timely responses to prospective students and families across internal and external platforms.
Manages Outlook calendar to maximize efficiencies in travel, meetings, expense reports and other business operations.
Provides reports of recruitment efforts and territory application progress to the Assistant Director of Freshmen Recruitment.
Manages an assigned recruitment budget.
Other duties as assigned.
25% Staffing and Organizing On-and-Off Campus Recruitment Events
Provides in-person and virtual presentations in a central public speaking role to small and large groups of prospective students, families and community stakeholders; communicates KU's competitive advantage to campus visitors and other parties in off-campus venues.
Plans and executes individual meetings with prospective students and families virtually, and on/off campus.
Plans, organizes and hosts targeted recruitment events in assigned Kansas and out-of-state markets; coordinating and hosting with university students, faculty, staff and alumni.
Job duty.
5% Consults with the Assistant Director of Freshman Recruitment
Help with presentation support, team building, and other leadership roles within the Kansas-based freshmen recruitment team, as assigned by the Assistant Director, Associate Director or Director.
Assumes other responsibilities assigned by the Assistant Director, Associate Director or Director.
Position Requirements
Valid/current driver's license or ability to obtain one at time of appointment.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required at time of appointment.
At least 3 months presentation experience (evidenced by coursework, extra-curricular activities or professional presentations).
Strong written communication skills, as evidenced in the application materials.
Experience as a KU student, as evidenced in application materials.
This position requires a formal degree in the cited discipline area(s) to ensure that candidates have advanced knowledge, analytical skills and professional competencies necessary to perform the duties of the position. The level of degree is commonly recognized as the standard qualification for similar roles in the public and private sector, ensuring that the university remains competitive with industry-aligned practices, enhances collaboration with external partners, and supports the delivery of services and programs that meet professional and market-driven expectations.
Preferred Qualifications

Graduate from the University of Kansas.
