Overview
Purchasing Admin– Mechanical Construction
— Location: Cedar Rapids, IA. Pay Range: $25-28/hour. Hours: 45-50 hours per week. Onsite for a data center project. Proficient in Excel.
Core Responsibilities
Create and process material purchase orders (POs)
Source pricing from approved vendors and suppliers
Compare quotes for cost, lead time, and availability
Track material deliveries to site
Coordinate with superintendent / foremen on material needs
Maintain material log / procurement tracker
Ensure materials meet specs, submittals, and project requirements
Monitor long lead items and escalate delays
Expedite urgent or missing materials
Vendor & Supplier Coordination
Send RFQs (Request for Quotes)
Follow up on pricing and availability
Confirm order acknowledgements
Verify delivery dates
Coordinate split shipments if needed
Resolve shortages or damaged material
Maintain preferred vendor list
Field Coordination
Work with:
Project Manager
Superintendent
Foremen
Warehouse / laydown yard
Confirm:
Quantities needed
Delivery timing
Jobsite delivery location
Offloading requirements (forklift, crane, etc.)
