Role Overview We are looking for a Route Sales & Service Level II Technician with a passion for customer service and life safety. The ideal candidate loves people, is sales-oriented, and can successfully perform inspection, installation, testing, service, and repair on fire extinguishers, exit/emergency lights, and kitchen hood suppression systems. This includes confirming compliance with applicable life‑safety and fire‑safety standards, codes, manufacturer requirements, federal, state, and local ordinances, and customer expectations. The role is fast‑paced and demanding with high visibility within the company.

Responsibilities

Perform inspection, testing, service, and repairs on fire extinguishers, exit/emergency lights, and pre‑engineered suppression systems (e.g., six‑year maintenance, hydrotest, recharge, battery replacement, bulb replacement). Adhere to standards, codes, manufacturer requirements, federal, state, local ordinances, and company procedures.

Troubleshoot and repair fire extinguishers, exit/emergency lights, and kitchen hood suppression systems.

Record and document all inspections, repairs, discrepancies, and recommendations electronically or manually.

Maintain a positive relationship with the customer, communicating information to appropriate personnel for follow‑up, quotes, questions, or concerns.

Keep the vehicle clean, orderly, and stocked with parts, equipment, and supplies necessary for the job.

Maintain tools and equipment necessary to perform the job safely.

Evaluate customer sites for additional equipment and services that may be needed.

Work in compliance with the company's safety program.

Explain deficiencies to customers, detailing problems and resolutions.

Be prepared to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required by location.

Be comfortable with heights, working on ladders or lifts, or in confined spaces.

Qualifications

1–3 years of route sales and service experience in the fire life safety industry, focusing on extinguishers, e‑lights, and hood suppression systems.

Ability to calculate basic math (fractions, decimals, percentages).

Proficiency with basic computer functions, operating systems, and applications (Windows, Word, Apple iOS, Android, Outlook). Willingness to learn industry‑specific devices and software.

Valid U.S. driver’s license.

Desired Experience

3–5 years of route sales and service experience in the fire life safety industry with a concentration in extinguishers, e‑lights, and hood suppression systems.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements Overtime may be required; hours vary by location. The role involves exposure to varied work environments—from hot to cold temperatures, dust, and occasional overnight travel. Lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally and frequent lifting of toolboxes, equipment, parts, tools, cabling, and wiring is required. Ladder climbing, pulling wire, walking, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, and raising hands overhead are common. Driving is required; travel time may vary. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn in accordance with safety standards.
