Head of E-Commerce — Location: Greensboro, NC (Open to Relocation)
Reports to: CEO / Founder
Direct Reports: E-Commerce Manager, Digital Marketing, CRM, Site Operations (current and future hires)
About The Role
A fast-growing womenswear brand with a clear vision to scale is seeking a strategic, data-driven, and entrepreneurial Head of E-Commerce to own and accelerate the next phase of growth.
As Head of E-Commerce, you will own the full digital P&L and lead the strategy, execution, and team required to scale the business from ~10M to 20M+ and beyond. You will report directly to the Founder and be the senior-most voice on all things digital, from channel strategy to site experience to retention and merchandising.
You will build strategy, processes, and revenue alongside 1–2 junior team members and a set of agency partners. You’ll set the roadmap, hire into it over time, and be accountable for results. This is a hands-on leadership role—strategic in vision, operational in execution.
The ideal candidate has successfully scaled a DTC fashion or consumer brand and understands the balance between brand, performance marketing, merchandising, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the E-Commerce P&L
- Drive annual revenue growth toward 2x in 2 years
- Develop annual and quarterly forecasts with clear growth levers (traffic, AOV, retention, conversion)
- Manage contribution margin, CAC, and profitability targets
- Growth Strategy & Channel Expansion
- Build scalable acquisition and retention strategies
- Optimize channel mix (paid social, search, email/SMS, SEO, affiliate)
- Identify marketplace, international, and omnichannel opportunities
- Develop platform and technology roadmap (Shopify Plus)
- Conversion & Customer Experience
- Own conversion rate, AOV, revenue per visitor, and CLTV
- Improve conversion from ~1.3% to ~2.75% over 2 years
- Lead CRO testing, personalization, and mobile optimization
- Reduce friction across checkout and post-purchase experience
- Merchandising & Product Performance
- Partner with merchandising on assortment and storytelling
- Drive full-price sell-through to 70%+
- Align product launches with demand generation strategy
- Monitor inventory productivity and category performance
- Marketing – Retention & Lifecycle
- Scale email, SMS, and loyalty programs
- Increase repeat purchase rate and lifetime value
- Improve time-to-second purchase
- Develop VIP and community initiatives
- Team & Organizational Build
- Build and lead a high-performing e-commerce team
- Define future org structure
- Manage agency and vendor relationships
- Establish performance dashboards and reporting cadence
- Data & Technology
- Own e-commerce platform strategy (Shopify Plus)
- Implement best-in-class tools (CRO, personalization, analytics)
- Ensure site performance, uptime, and scalability
- Build robust reporting infrastructure
Qualifications
- 8+ years in e-commerce leadership, preferably in women’s apparel or luxury DTC
- Proven experience scaling a brand from $10M–$30M+
- Strong understanding of paid media, retention, and merchandising across the full funnel
- Strong financial acumen with P&L ownership
- Experience building and leading teams in a founder-led environment
- Highly analytical and comfortable in fast-paced settings
- Hands-on operator who can both strategize and execute
