Overview
KMGH, the E.W. Scripps ABC affiliate in Denver, Colorado, seeks an experienced and passionate Investigative Reporter who thrives on accountability journalism—someone who discovers truths and tells compelling stories to inform and impact the community. The role involves building sources, breaking impactful stories on digital platforms, and leading newscasts where appropriate. At Denver 7, you will join a forward-thinking news organization that values integrity and innovation and works to serve the audience through journalism that results in change.
What You'll Do
- Develop, create and research news leads and tips to develop story ideas.
- Uncover stories through investigation and research.
- Use computer databases to research statistics and facts.
- Gather and verify factual information through interviews, observation, and research.
- Organize material, determine slant or emphasis, and write stories according to editorial style and format standards.
- Shoot video and still photos to illustrate stories.
- Edit, or assist in editing, videos for all multimedia platforms.
- Appear on television programs when conducting taped interviews or narration.
- Give live reports from the site of events or from the mobile broadcast unit.
- Write and produce quality news stories for multiple media platforms.
- Work cooperatively with a photographer assigned to the story, if one is assigned.
- Assist the news producer in preparing newscasts.
- Assist online staff in preparing for multimedia stories.
- Report, write, capture visual content, edit and produce stories for multiple platforms on deadline (e.g., Internet and digital channels).
What You'll Need
- BS/BA in related discipline or equivalent years of experience preferred
- Generally, 5+ years of experience in related field preferred

Compensation
Annual Salary: $94,500.00 - 103,000.00
Pursuant to state and local salary transparency laws, the salary range posted is specific to candidates who will perform this work in Colorado.
