
Associate Director, PR & Communications

As Associate Director, PR & Communications, you will be responsible for the strategic development and execution of PR and communications initiatives across Nickerson’s client-partners. You will also be responsible for promotion of yourself and the agency through the maintenance of multiple leadership roles in industry organizations, and regular participation and attendance at industry/learning events.
Responsibilities:
Client Management
Develop PR and communications strategies for Nickerson client-partners, overseeing Nickerson’s execution and implementation of those strategies
Serve as Account Lead and primary contact point for client-partner accounts
Oversee achievement of client-partner goals so they are met monthly
Manage all strategic initiatives on behalf of client-partners, overseeing team’s execution
Ensure accuracy of reporting, providing strategic oversight
Demonstrate client-partner satisfaction through no turnover on client-partner accounts managed, and advise when challenges with client-partner accounts occur
Manage account budgets, monitoring Forecast
Serve as main point of contact for client-partners during crises, including providing onsite strategic support when appropriate
Manage direct reports and be responsible for overall health of greater team
Oversee team adherence to company systems and best practices
Support agency’s hiring efforts for team growth
Source and close business development opportunities (at least one (1) a year)
Advise and execute upon the strategic promotion of Nickerson (e.g. strategic development, promotion, writing, etc.)
Hold leadership role in at least one (1) industry organization
Attend at least four (4) networking events monthly
The ideal candidate will have:
Demonstrated exemplary writing and critical‑thinking abilities
A proven record of placing clients in top tier media channels
Demonstrated ability to effectively manage external communications, public affairs, and media relations campaign development
6+ years of public relations experience or related field within the industry
Demonstrated ability to lead client-partner accounts
A willingness to represent the agency at networking events, through professional memberships
The ability to adapt and add value within a highly innovative agency
Previous experience with project management software (e.g. Asana, Monday, etc.)
Experience managing a CRM (ideally Salesforce)
Location and Travel:
Team member will work fully remotely with some anticipated travel to client-partners, industry events, etc.
Candidates must be based in Boston.
Compensation:
$95,000-$105,000
