Position Summary
The Marketing Manager, Impact Lab will work directly with ULI’s Impact Lab to execute an integrated marketing strategy that elevates the Lab’s thought leadership, research, programs, and impact. The role is responsible for shaping how Impact Lab insights and initiatives are positioned, promoted, and experienced across channels, including live and virtual events, to support ULI’s mission and overall impact.
Essential Responsibilities
- Lead the marketing and promotion of Impact Lab research, thought leadership, events, programs, and initiatives by translating complex insights into clear, compelling, audience‑focused narratives and campaigns.
- Serve as the primary marketing point of contact for Impact Lab leaders and staff, providing guidance on positioning, prioritization, audience segmentation, and campaign strategy to drive awareness and engagement.
- Collaborate with research and program teams and fellow marketing and communications team members to align efforts and drive a multi‑channel marketing approach that maximizes reach, engagement, and conversion.
- Collaborate with program and events teams to shape and execute go‑to‑market strategies that drive awareness, registration, and post‑event engagement, ensuring coordinated messaging across the full event lifecycle.
- Develop and implement marketing campaigns that drive philanthropic investment in Impact Lab initiatives, partnering with ULI Foundation and other teams to align with broader advancement and fundraising strategies.
- Define audiences and craft impact‑driven narratives that communicate value, outcomes, and long‑term benefits of investment, membership, and engagement.
- Balance competing priorities across stakeholders while focusing on high‑impact marketing initiatives.
- Establish goals, KPIs, and success metrics for marketing initiatives; monitor performance, analyze insights, and optimize campaigns for continuous improvement and measurable impact.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5‑7+ years of experience in marketing, content strategy, communications, or related roles with demonstrated execution of multi‑channel campaigns.
- Experience marketing research, thought leadership, and mission‑driven programs, ideally in a nonprofit, foundation, academic, policy, or professional membership organization.
- Ability to translate complex or technical content into clear, compelling narratives tailored for specific audience segments and channels.
- Experience developing marketing strategies for philanthropic giving, fundraising, or advancement efforts through storytelling.
- Strong writing, editing, and content development skills, with the ability to translate complex ideas into engaging, accessible content.
- Strong strategic thinking skills aligned with organizational goals and business objectives.
- Experience working with content management systems (CMS), marketing automation platforms, and project management tools.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Analytical mindset with experience tracking and reporting on performance metrics and KPIs.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams and stakeholders at various levels.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and messaging skills with a keen understanding of tone, brand voice, and audience segmentation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with real estate, land use, urban development, sustainability, or social impact topics is preferred.
Working Conditions
- Roles require regular on‑site presence to foster teamwork and innovation; primary workplace remains the ULI offices.
- Occasional national travel (1–2 times per year).
- Must lift up to 30 lbs., work extended hours for events, and sit/stand for prolonged periods.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $89,000 to $102,000. Compensation will be based on experience, education, and skills. ULI offers a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and life insurance; generous vacation; and a retirement plan with employer match.
