
Civil 3D BIM Designer

Job Description
Insight Global is looking for a Civil BIM Designer to support an international engineering client in Charlotte, NC or Raleigh, NC. This individual will join the building engineering design group & will be heavily supporting data center projects. The Civil BIM Designer will be responsible for developing and maintaining accurate Civil 3D models and construction documents that support site civil and infrastructure projects through all phases of design.
Day to day, the Designer will:
Collaborate with engineers and other disciplines, apply BIM standards, coordinate models, and ensure 3D designs are accurate, efficient, and ready to support construction and project coordination in a timely manner. Other responsibilities will include:
Support current project delivery while adapting to evolving BIM initiatives, technology advancements, and expanding digital design requirements.
Demonstrate strong communication skills, attention to detail, proactive problem-solving, and the ability to mentor junior staff while contributing to continuous improvement across the civil BIM team.
This is a six-month contract-to-hire position with a hybrid office schedule. The candidate will be expected to work in office 3-4 days per week with flexibility for more WFH days as time goes on. Rates for this role range from $45-$65+ depending on years of experience and specific skillsets.

Requirements
5+ years of Civil 3D design experience supporting site civil and infrastructure projects through all phases of design and construction documentation.
Proficiency within Autodesk Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and BIM workflows, including site layout design, surface modeling, corridor design, grading, utilities, and plan/profile production, with a strong emphasis on utilizing 3D models as the primary source of design information (3+ years of experience).
Strong experience within multidisciplinary coordination including clash detection, integrating survey data, and responding efficiently to design changes. Experience developing templates, styles, or automation tools to improve efficiency in Civil 3D or BIM workflows.
Experience supporting mission critical facilities (data centers, hospitals, etc.) or complex facilities.
Experience working within a BIM Execution Plan (BEP) or following established BIM standards.
Mentorship experience.
