Job Summary You’ll pitch, script, edit, and produce compelling true crime content while collaborating with reporters, researchers, and newsrooms to uncover the details that make a case truly captivating. You’ll be at the forefront of creating original, multi-platform true crime programming, from short‑form videos to long‑form features, image carousels, and viral hook storytelling.
This role requires a strong journalism background, expertise in video production, graphic design, and an innate ability to connect with true crime audiences across platforms. Travel may be required for content gathering, breaking news coverage, and professional development.
Key Responsibilities Attend Content Strategy Sessions to pitch and produce original social‑first true crime content.
Review daily broadcasts, digital content, and raw footage to craft engaging true crime narratives aligned with the Criminally Obsessed brand.
Understand and use public records, databases (PACER, FOIA), and media sources outside Sinclair (CNN, AP, Getty) for research; assist other producers.
Manage clearance and permission of third‑party assets while coordinating with Sinclair news teams.
Script, shoot, and edit original video/photo content for multiple platforms which includes on‑cam content.
Design social graphics including thumbnails that maintain brand guidelines.
Coordinate with national and local news teams on coverage plans for co‑presented stories.
Analyze social and digital performance metrics, translating data into actionable strategies to optimize engagement.
This role requires occasional travel, approximately 10‑20%, to attend conferences, training, or on‑site content coverage.
Physical requirement: Must be able to safely lift, carry, and maneuver equipment/gear weighing up to 25 pounds, following proper safety protocols.
Daily Expectations Review web stories and video from assigned markets by 10am.
Send a minimum of 3 story pitches identifying the bucket and assets prior to CSS.
Know key details about story pitches.
Create a minimum of 5 pieces of short‑form in‑feed content and 2 pieces of mid‑form content weekly—all due by assigned time.
Assigned schedule is 8:30am to 5:30pm with an hour break, but could flex due to work demands.
Qualifications 5+ years of experience in content creation across print, video, and social (news background preferred).
5+ years of hands‑on video production experience, including shooting, lighting, sound recording, and editing.
Must have a solid understanding of layout and design and the ability to follow brand guidelines to ensure consistency.
Strong knowledge of social media platforms (YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, X) and their best practices.
Expertise in storytelling, scripting, and research, with experience securing public records and legal permissions.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, Premiere Rush, Photoshop, After Effects) and other creative software.
Strong understanding of audience analytics and the ability to adapt content to drive engagement.
Impeccable spelling, grammar, and attention to detail.
Highly motivated, extremely organized, and deadline driven.
Comfortable with a fast‑paced, evolving work environment.

Benefits & Compensation The base salary compensation range for this role is $70,000 to $90,000. In addition, this role may be eligible for a discretionary quarterly bonus, which would be awarded based on individual and company performance. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. Full time positions are eligible for benefits that include participation in a retirement plan, quarterly and annual incentive plan bonuses, life and disability insurance, health, dental and vision plans, flexible spending accounts, 15 paid vacation days, 2 paid personal days, 9 paid holidays, 40 hours of paid sick leave, parental leave, and employee stock purchase plan.
