Position Audio Engineer
Reports To: Principal, Engineering
Pay: 70,000 – 85,000/yr

Position Overview The Audio Engineer at TechMDinc plays a key role in designing and delivering innovative audio systems for themed entertainment environments. Collaborating closely with Systems Designers and Project Managers, the Audio Engineer develops technical solutions that align with client creative visions and project requirements. This role involves engineering design, documentation, client interaction, and hands-on support during system integration and installation. Drawing on resources from internal engineering and documentation teams, the Audio Engineer ensures that all systems are technically sound, elegantly executed, and meet the highest standards of quality and performance.
Primary Responsibilities Audio System Design & Engineering – Develop and validate sound system designs, including coverage studies and array calculations.
Review and specify electronic components, design requirements, tolerances, and materials.
Lead client meetings to gather requirements and present solutions.
Build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
Identify scope changes and coordinate with management on change orders.
Project Coordination – Work closely with internal teams (design, project management, production) to ensure project alignment.
Contribute to the development of engineering standards and implement process improvements.
Research and evaluate new technologies for potential integration.
Field Installation & Integration – Direct and support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and onsite installation.
Configure and calibrate audio systems including speakers, microphones, immersive platforms, and DSPs.
Provide support for show control programming, media installation, and audio mixing.
Other Responsibilities Technical Support & Expertise – Act as a subject matter expert for installed systems and technologies.
Provide warranty support and respond to technical inquiries as needed.
Train and mentor junior engineering staff.
Share expertise across disciplines and coordinate with internal teams to support project success.
Contribute to the development of engineering standards and identify process improvements.
Research and evaluate emerging technologies and products for potential integration.
Physical Requirements Occasionally move within installation environments, including stooping or kneeling to access AV equipment.
Lift and transport equipment weighing up to 25–50 pounds to a height of 3–4 feet and load into vehicles.
Requirements and Qualifications Technical Tools & Software – System Tuning Tools: SMAART, SIM 3, SysTune; strong understanding of modern audio systems, technologies, and components; familiarity with IP networking and electrical power systems; experience with 3D/immersive audio platforms (e.g., L-ISA, SpaceMap GO, d&b Soundscape).
Certifications
Communication & Physical Requirements – Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to lift 25–50 lbs and move within installation environments.
Preferred Qualifications – Familiarity with video display and server technologies; understanding of show control systems and platforms; experience with software scripting.
