Walt Disney Animation Studios is looking for inspired Crowd Artists with strong artistic abilities layered on top of solid technical foundations to work on populating our features with world‑class crowds. They will be an essential part of the film‑making process, utilizing a variety of assets and animation to match both the project’s style and the Director's creative vision. This opportunity would be to support our upcoming feature Hexed.
Responsibilities:
Support the story by populating scenes with crowd character assets and animation
Collaborate with peers to address creative and technical notes
Forthcoming with solutions and ideas, exhibiting openness to knowledge sharing
Develop and maintain crowds technology; identifying opportunities to improve tool and pipeline efficiency
Design crowd character behaviors and set ups
Team player, willing to collaborate with peers to address creative notes and resolve technical issues
Able to proactively communicate accurate task estimates and consistently meet deadlines
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Graphics, Computer Science, Engineering, and related fields, or equivalent experience
Understanding of rigging and animation techniques
Strong interest in Particle Systems, AI/Machine learning, or crowds systems (agent/brain design, simulation, and behavior)
Experience with commercial graphics packages such as Houdini
Solid understanding of the production processes and pipelines of CG Animation, VFX, or Video Game productions
Ability to work with a team and collaborate closely with others within the department and other departments
Strong problem solving abilities
Knowledge of film language, demonstrating strong compositional skills
A refined eye for detail, natural movement and timing
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with scripting languages such as Python
Experience with the Linux or Unix operating system
Experience with Object Oriented programming such as C++ a plus
Experience with USD a plus

The pay rate for this role in Burbank, California is $60.69 to $75.95 per hour, which follows the pay scale agreed upon in the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The base pay actually offered may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors.
