Overview
We’re seeking a Media Systems Engineer to support our New York post‑production facility. This role provides technical support for editors, assistant editors, and VFX artists working across Avid, Adobe, Pro Tools, and Flame. You’ll maintain the performance and reliability of our edit systems, shared storage, and network infrastructure. The ideal candidate has hands‑on post‑production experience and a strong understanding of creative workflows, system troubleshooting, and media‑security best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Provide daily technical support for Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premiere, Pro Tools, and basic Autodesk Flame environments.
Maintain and troubleshoot macOS edit systems across approximately ten edit suites.
Manage and support shared storage including Avid Nexis, EditShare, and Synology.
Monitor and maintain network performance, including Ubiquiti firewalls and secure media workflows.
Install and configure editing software, plugins, codecs, and workflow tools.
Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, storage, and media‑format issues.
Support hybrid and on‑prem workflows for editorial and VFX.
Manage user accounts, permissions, and system access.
Document system setups, procedures, and troubleshooting workflows.
Coordinate with vendors, software support teams, and external technicians as needed.
Required Qualifications
Post‑production background is required.
Expertise with Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premiere, and Pro Tools; familiarity with Autodesk Flame.
Experience troubleshooting macOS systems in editorial or VFX environments.
Understanding of codecs, media formats, and professional post workflows.
Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to support fast‑moving creative teams.
Knowledge of network infrastructure and Ubiquiti firewalls.
Experience working with shared storage systems such as Nexis, EditShare, or Synology.
Ability to maintain a secure, stable, and efficient post infrastructure.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with finishing, color, or sound pipelines.
Familiarity with TPN/MPAA‑aligned security practices.
Knowledge of transcoding tools, LUT workflows, or automation tools for post.
Experience supporting high‑performance media networks.
Experience & Skills
Post‑production experience supporting editors, AEs, or VFX artists.
Strong knowledge of Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premiere, and Pro Tools.
Familiarity with Autodesk Flame or similar finishing tools.
Hands‑on experience maintaining macOS edit systems in a facility setting.
Understanding of media formats, codecs, transcoding, and editorial workflows.
Experience managing shared storage systems such as Avid Nexis, EditShare, or Synology.
Knowledge of network infrastructure and Ubiquiti firewalls.
Ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, storage, and workflow issues quickly.
Comfort working in fast‑paced creative environments.
Strong documentation habits and clear communication skills.
Experience with media security best practices (TPN/MPAA a plus).
