UAS Whalesong Media & Photography Lead Fall 2025 - Spring 2026

Overview
The Whalesong Media and Photography Lead will ensure Whalesong visuals, including photographs and videos for all written stories, podcasts, ads, and other information posted on the Whalesong website, social media, and print material distributed by Whalesong. The ideal candidate must be a team player with exceptional written and visual communication skills, who is passionate about design and/or photography and is detail oriented. Applicants must be proficient with design and photo-editing software.

Responsibilities

Visually represent UAS and its stories.

Use excellent photography skills, knowledge of or ability to learn how to use various camera equipment, and keep equipment in good working order.

Understand basic marketing principles and adhere to deadlines.

Check and respond to Whalesong emails, be receptive to feedback.

Promote Whalesong at UAS and community events.

Attend weekly staff meetings and may occasionally work some evening and weekend hours.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be enrolled as a UAS student taking a minimum of 6 credits with a minimum GPA of 2.0 or a newly enrolled student.

Position Details
This position is located on the UAS campus in Juneau. It is a part-time, student hourly position. Hourly rate: $14.38/hr. This is a pooled position and applications are reviewed as needed. Submission of an application does not guarantee review or a job offer.
