Job Overview: Acoustic Measurement Engineer
We are seeking a skilled
Acoustic Measurement Engineer
to join our client’s cutting-edge team in the
San Francisco Bay Area . In this role, you’ll play a key part in the acoustic design and development process, contributing to various stages of product development to ensure an exceptional audio experience for users.
As part of your daily work, you will conduct frequency, distortion, impedance, and polar measurements and evaluate the results for product benchmarking. You will also measure electronics for distortion and transfer functions in this role. You will create, follow, and categorize testing procedure data and publish a searchable database for benchmarking measurement data written in Python. You will prototype and evaluate new audio technologies.
The work will be done closely with our client, their R&D organization, and their labs. Great communication skills and the ability to work across disciplines and technology areas are essential. You must also be passionate about learning new things and working in different contexts.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct frequency, distortion, impedance, and polar measurements for the product
Analyze and draw conclusions based on test results and measurement
Measure electronics for distortion and characterize the acoustic and mechanical transfer
Create, follow, and categorize testing procedures. Create a web-based searchable database for benchmarking measurement data.
Track laboratory inventory to stock cables, tools, test equipment
Prototyping and evaluating new audio technologies
Validation through acoustic measurements and user studies, helping to drive product specifications to support feature implementation
Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams (software, hardware integration, user interaction)
QUALIFICATIONS
BSc degree in Acoustics, Electrical Engineering, or related field
Solid understanding of the physics of audio
Hands-on experience with audio hardware testing +3 years of experience
Fluent with Audio Precision, Listen Inc Soundcheck, Klippel (KA3, SCN, and NFS), BK HATS, oscilloscope, and multimeters
Effective communication, documentation, and presentation skills
Knowledge of hearing science and psychoacoustics essential for understanding testing results
Experience with laser displacement meters like Keyence and Polytec; experience with a high-level programming language such as MATLAB or Python
