2026-2027 Communications and Media Studies‑2 (Adjunct Faculty, time‑limited, 5 months, 1–2 semesters). Building: Hall‑Patterson 314. Position number AJC110.

Position Overview
The Department of Communication and Media Studies is seeking a pool of candidates for temporary adjunct positions for the 2026‑2027 academic year. Candidates should have experience teaching communication and media‑related courses to culturally and linguistically diverse students, and should be able to teach courses that equip students with the skills to develop multimedia projects.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

Facilitate high‑quality, engaging instruction by teaching undergraduate communication and media studies courses for credit during day or evening hours.

Communicate effectively with students and monitor their academic progress through EAB and other student success management systems.

Foster student success and assist students in reaching their fullest academic, personal and professional potential.

Responsible for classroom management and other duties as assigned by the department chair.

Responsible for teaching, grading, and mentoring students.

Submit midterm and final grades in a timely manner.

Requirements and Preferences

Master’s Degree in communication and media studies or a related field from a regionally accredited college/university.

At least 2 years of successful teaching experience in Communication and Media Studies at the undergraduate level in a multicultural environment.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Excellent interpersonal communication skills.

Demonstrated success in multimedia.

Ability to use various technologies and digital media applications to teach courses and engage students.

Ability to teach effectively using best practices and a variety of instructional methods.

Ability to work with students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.

Three or more years of teaching experience in Communication and Media Studies in a college/university environment (preferred).

Teaching experience in a culturally diverse environment (preferred).

Working knowledge of Canvas or a similar learning management system (preferred).

Evidence of utilizing Adobe Suite applications to engage students in the learning process (preferred).

Demonstrated commitment to diversity, social justice, innovation, and collaboration in working with university colleagues and professionals in the discipline (preferred).

Other Details

Normal work schedule: Monday to Friday, various class times.

Appointment type: Time‑limited.

Appointment length: 5 months, 1–2 semesters.

Salary: commensurate with education and experience.
