Position Description
This is a two year temporary, intermittent, on-call position.

Under the general direction and guidance of the Director of Technical Services, an On-Call Stage Technician II coordinates and provides technical/production support and direction for a wide variety of events in the PAC or other campus locations as necessary. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: communicating with clients, assessing and negotiating event needs, deploying resources and the employees required to execute events. This position’s duties are performed with marked independence and authority for supervising and executing events to ensure proper use of the PAC and related facilities, utilizing technical equipment with emphasis on safety, efficiency and asset protection.

Department Summary
The Performing Arts Center (PAC) consists of three venues: a 1288-seat concert hall, a 180-seat recital hall and a 350-seat rehearsal/performance pavilion. It hosts events including symphonies, choral concerts, contemporary and pop music events, plays and other theatrical events, dance programs, recitals, opera and light opera, touring shows and community productions. It also supports other uses, including workshops, business meetings, banquets, recording sessions, trade shows, etc.

Key Qualifications

Knowledge of theatrical and event production equipment, procedures, techniques and professional best practices. Ability to use professionalism to independently manage special events and projects in a theatrical, event and/or public assembly venue.

Knowledge and understanding of safety requirements and standards related production support specialty and stage operations and ability to train others in safety measures and ensure compliance with codes and regulations.

Ability to deal effectively with a diverse mix of both professional and non-professional event clients.

Ability to independently manage production, support projects and productions by breaking segments into working units that coincide with production needs.

Demonstrated customer service experience requiring a very high level of diplomacy and professionalism.

Education and Experience
Two years of experience working for a theatre, repertory or stock company engaged in the applicable production specialty of costume design and construction or a closely related area. (12 units of applicable coursework or 6 months of professional training may be substituted for 6 months of required experience).

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, DEGREES, CREDENTIALS
Possession of a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain by date of hire.

Salary and Benefits
Anticipated Hiring Range: $27.37 - $34.03 Per Hour
Classification Range: $23.83 - $34.71 Per Hour
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Anticipated Hiring Range referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Classification Range may be broader than what the University anticipates paying for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
