Vice President, Communications and Storytelling
Summary/objective
We are seeking a bold, strategic, and highly creative Vice President of Communications and Storytelling to define and lead the next evolution of our brand, narrative, and market presence. This executive will oversee Brand, Content, Design, Public Relations, Analyst Relations, Social Media, and Community Relations, bringing these functions together into a cohesive, high-impact storytelling engine.
This role requires a leader with a strong point of view on brand identity, the ability to rapidly establish and scale a differentiated market position, and the executive presence to shape internal and external communications at the highest level. The Vice President will play a critical role in influencing perception across customers, partners, analysts, media, and employees.
Core Job Duties
Define and rapidly establish a clear, differentiated brand identity and narrative
Lead the evolution of the company's voice, messaging, and positioning across all audiences and channels
Ensure consistent and compelling storytelling across brand, product, demand, and communications efforts
Elevate visual identity and creative expression in partnership with design leadership
Guide development of high-impact content across digital, thought leadership, campaigns, events, and sales enablement
Ensure messaging translates complex HCM solutions into clear, compelling narratives for SMB and Mid-Market audiences
Drive innovation in AI-enabled content creation, discoverability, and performance optimization
Lead corporate communications strategy including PR, media relations, and crisis communications
Build and manage a high-performing PR and Analyst Relations function to strengthen market credibility and influence
Shape thought leadership and executive visibility across media, analysts, and industry platforms
Ensure tight alignment between brand narrative and external communications
Establish a clear and compelling executive communications strategy; Partner closely with the CEO and executive team to develop messaging, speeches, and thought leadership platforms
Ensure executive voice aligns with and reinforces brand positioning and company strategy
Oversee social media strategy as a core brand and demand channel
Build and scale community engagement programs that strengthen customer advocacy and brand affinity
Ensure consistent and authentic brand presence across owned and earned channels
Partner with Demand Generation, Product Marketing, Sales, and Customer teams to align messaging and drive pipeline impact
Ensure alignment across all customer touchpoints-from awareness through conversion and retention
Lead and scale a multidisciplinary team across brand, content, design, PR, AR, and social
Modernize workflows through AI and automation to increase speed, scale, and impact
Job Complexity
Guides and inspires others to work with abstract ideas or situations across functional areas of the business. Sets strategy and guides senior leaders in identifying and evaluating fundamental issues and direction for business unit(s). Requires in-depth knowledge of the business unit, business strategies and the company's goals.
Interaction
Interacts internally and externally with executive and C-Level management, requiring negotiation of extremely critical matters. Influences policymaking.
Supervision
Directs and controls the activities of one or business unit, division, product groups or service areas through senior leaders who have overall responsibility for the successful operation of those assigned areas. Clear expertise as a manager, leader, and operator.
Experience
Typically requires a Bachelor's degree and 15+ years of direct experience, with 8+ years of leadership experience. May require advanced degree.
Scope
Sets direction, strategy, and vision for business unit(s). Holds senior leaders accountable for results. Helps shape, exemplify, and hold senior leaders accountable to the management standards of the company. Approves corporate and/or organizational policies and authorizes their implementation. Inspires senior leaders to develop innovative concepts and promotes new ideas. Drives meaningful impact and improvements across multiple functions or business units; strategically plans for how people and processes scale.

Erroneous decisions will have a significant long-term effect on the company's success.
Minimum Qualifications
15+ years of experience in brand, communications, or marketing leadership, preferably in B2B SaaS or HCM/HR tech
Proven experience leading integrated brand, content, and communications functions
Strong track record of building and scaling brand identity and market presence
Deep expertise in PR, Analyst Relations, and executive communications
Demonstrated ability to influence executive stakeholders and shape company narrative
Experience partnering with Demand Generation to drive measurable business outcomes
Strong understanding of modern content ecosystems, including AI/LLM-driven discovery
Exceptional storytelling, editorial judgment, and creative leadership
Physical Demands
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds.
Travel Required
Yes, up to 20% domestic travel may be required.
