Fall Communications Intern
Overview
The Fall Communications & Social Media Intern will support the Presidents’ Alliance’s outreach and engagement across media platforms. This intern will play a key role in creating, editing, and managing digital content and assisting with social media strategy, visual design, website updates, and analytics.
This is an excellent opportunity for students or recent graduates interested in communications, advocacy, public policy, and higher education.
Organization Description
The non-partisan, nonprofit Presidents’ Alliance on Higher Education and Immigration brings college and university presidents and chancellors together on the immigration issues that impact higher education, our students, campuses, communities and nation. We work to support immigrant, international, and refugee students and to advance forward-looking immigration policies and practices at the federal level, in our states, and across our college campuses. The Alliance is composed of 580+ presidents and chancellors of public and private colleges and universities enrolling over five million students in 42 states, D.C., and Puerto Rico.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Communications Manager in executing the organization’s digital strategy.
Draft content for social media platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram, BlueSky and YouTube), including posts, infographics, and short-form videos.
Monitor events and webinars to generate live content or post-event summaries.
Upload and manage content on the Presidents’ Alliance website.
Track and analyze performance metrics across social media channels; provide regular reports on engagement and reach.
Conduct research on social media trends, tools, and emerging platforms to enhance audience engagement.
Provide general support on communications and design requests from the team.
Logistics
Duration: Fall Semester, 2025
Time commitment: Part-time
Hours per week: 10-25 hours, in consultation with qualified applicants
Preferred start date: August 25, 2025 or September 2, 2025.
Location: Communications staff members are based in Washington, D.C. While our organization is remote-first, we may request the intern come into the office located at 740 15th street, NW to support comms needs as their schedule allows.
Compensation: Unpaid but eligible for college credit
