Job Description
Job Goal:

To help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their educational and social development, incorporating a framework clustered into four domains of teaching responsibility: planning and preparation, classroom environment, instruction, and professional responsibilities.

Terms of Employment:

Nine and one-fourth (9.25) month contract (190 days) plus a benefits package. Salary range determined based on experience and LRSD salary guidelines. FLSA: Exempt.

Qualifications

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university teacher education program.

Arkansas teacher’s license appropriate for level and/or subject area assignment.

Competence in the total teaching experience demonstrated in the submission of an electronic portfolio that highlights designing coherent instruction, the use of questioning and discussion techniques, engaging students in learning, and the incorporation of technology in the classroom.

Relevant teaching experience.

Working knowledge of relevant technology.

Such alternatives and additions to the above qualifications may be deemed appropriate by the Superintendent, and/or the Board may require alternatives.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Teach assigned subject area using the course of study adopted by the Board of Education, LRSD Curriculum Guides, and other appropriate learning activities.

Communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and external to the District.

Planning and Preparation:

Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences, demonstrating pedagogy, knowledge of students, instructional goals, knowledge of resources, coherent instruction, and assessment of student learning.

Classroom Environment:

Establish a culture of learning: managing classroom procedure and student behavior, organizing physical space, and applying appropriate disciplinary measures when necessary.

Instruction:

Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups; communicate with students, use questioning and discussion techniques, engage students in learning, use assessment in instruction, integrate STEM concepts, inquiry methodologies, and technology.

Professional Responsibilities:

Develop and adhere to professional responsibilities – reflecting on teaching, maintaining accurate records, communicating with families, contributing to the school and district, growing and developing professionally, showing professionalism, and using data to inform instruction.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, go up and down stairs, operate foot and hand controls, use a telephone and write. Occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty (20) or more pounds. Must have accurate perception of sound, vision, depth perception, and ability to work the full contracted time period with only infrequent unexcused absences.
